Serena Holmes, AUTHOR

Serena Holmes was born in 1981 and raised east of Toronto, Ontario, in Scarborough, Stouffville, and then Pickering, which is where she still resides today. She graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism but pivoted into the world of events.

Shortly after graduating, an opportunity to partner on a new business venture presented itself. The founder left the company just four years in, so Serena took the risk to buy her out as the world was staring down the 2008 recession. Since that time, Serena substantially grew the company to more than 2,500 part-time event staff and managers across Canada.

Her agency has been recognized for its work, taking home 16 awards since 2014 along with more than a dozen other nominations. When Serena isn't busy with her business, she is spending time with her husband, her daughter, and her two chocolate miniature pinschers. Prior to the pandemic, she also loved to travel; so much so, that she and her husband got married at an exotic destination in Thailand.

Note: Serena Holmes lays the foundation for her book by describing the challenges she was confronted with growing up and how she leveraged these experiences to grow and develop throughout her career as an entrepreneur.
